      • Ukraine is located in Europe.

      • Situated along the coastline of the Black Sea, the European country of Ukraine is in the eastern region of the continent. In the northeast as well as the east, Ukraine is bordered by Russia. In the north, Belarus surrounds Ukraine, and Moldova is along the central southern border of Ukraine. To the west lies Poland and to the southwest lies Romania.

      • The GPS coordinates of Ukraine are made up of two points: the latitudinal coordinate and the longitudinal coordinate. Ukraine’s latitude is 48.3794° N, and the country’s longitude is 31.1656° E. These points show that Ukraine is located in the northern hemisphere and above the equator. Ukraine is also found in the eastern hemisphere.

      • In the north, Ukraine extends to a latitude of 52°22' N. This coordinate points to a small village, called Hremyach, in Ukraine’s Novhorod-Siverskyi Raion. The district is part of the Chernihiv Oblast. Ukraine’s southernmost extremity is in the district of Kiliis’kyi. With a latitude of 45°20' N, the most extreme point in southern Ukraine can be found on the peninsula of Crimea. This point is along the coastline of two bodies of water: the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.

      • In the east, Ukraine reaches a longitudinal extremity of 40°15' E. The most extreme point in eastern Ukraine is located in the oblast of Luhansk. This point simultaneously rests on the border that Ukraine shares with Russia. To the west, Ukraine’s furthest point is positioned at a longitude of 22°15' E. This coordinate points to the Ukrainian oblast of Zakarpattia. With proximity to the city of Uzhhorod, the westernmost point of Ukraine is situated along the border between Ukraine and Slovakia.

      • The total area of the country is comprised of 223,679 square miles of land and 9,351 square miles of water. Altogether, the square mileage comes to a sum of 233,031 square miles. As a country divided into twenty-four oblasts, two municipalities, and one autonomous republic, Ukraine is 784.93 miles wide and 346.4 miles long.

      • Ukraine‘s population size makes Ukraine the thirty-third most populated country across the globe. With a population of 43,893,603 people as of 2019, Ukraine’s population is less than one percent of the world’s total population. Ukraine is home to only 0.57% of people on Earth.
