DampRid crystals work immediately to absorb excess moisture from the air. The crystals harden and form a solid mass. Then they begin to dissolve and liquid will begin to drip into the bottom chamber. Accumulated moisture will drip into the bottom chamber, and about half to three-quarters of the crystals will dissolve.

Also, what is DampRid used for? DampRid is designed to remove moisture from the air. By doing so, it helps reduce excessive humidity. Its made up of an inorganic mineral salt called calcium chloride that absorbs moisture from the air. Humidity (moisture) has to be present for mold to grow in your home.

Beside above, what can be used to absorb moisture?

How to Absorb Moisture

Run a dehumidifier. Dehumidifiers absorb moisture from the air by condensing water onto a cold surface (usually cold metal coils). Hang packages of chemicals that absorb moisture. Sprinkle baking soda on the area that is covered with moisture. Run a sponge or squeegee over the excess moisture.

Does DampRid really work?

While DampRid will reduce moisture in your home and thereby help to prevent mold, we think a good dehumidifier does an even better job. DampRid only removes moisture from the air immediately around the container, so for a large room, you would likely need multiple containers.
