Pros - Great digital nomad community - Lots of sport and social meetups - Great laptop-friendly coffeeshops - Beautiful outdoors beaches, activities etc Cons - Difficult and expensive with accommodation during summer season - Cars allowed to drive on small walking streets in city center (like all over PT) On the surface Lagos seems like a sleepy place with not much going on, but as soon as you find the meetups, coffeeshops and various nomad activities such as beach volleyball on praia da luz (there is a whatsapp group for everything) you realise this place has a lot to offer beside beautiful nature. Lagos is getting more and more interesting as a DN-hub and also a place to reside long term as an expat. A growing number of expats are making Lagos their permanent residence, building a vibrant community. A great alternative to Lisbon IMO, close to other nice spots in Algarve + Spain.

Prague is super awesome it’s a very beautiful city. However, I have learned two things about Prague which I want to share with future travelers and nomads, they are: - Only use ATMs that has the word “Bankomat” on it, all the other ATMs have really high fees or commission and may even in some cases support organized crime. - if you need to call the police for some reason, because of e.g. robbery or physical injury, make sure to call the state police or ask for the state police and not the municipal police. The municipal police can be very corrupt and in some cases support organized crime. That’s my advice, take care.

There are some legitimate companies, but any that promise a Visa on Arrival in less than a day are a scam. I applied for an e-visa though https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/trang-chu-ttdt which is fully legitimate. It is the department of immigration site for visas on arrival.

The following info is from the US Department of State ( http://www.travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1139.html ) ENTRY/EXIT REQUIREMENTS: U.S. citizens require a valid passport and valid Indian visa to enter and exit India for any purpose. Visitors, including those on official U.S. government business, must obtain visas at an Indian Embassy or Consulate abroad prior to entering the country, as there are no provisions for visas upon arrival. Those arriving without a valid passport and valid visa are subject to immediate deportation. The U.S. Embassy and Consulates in India are unable to assist when U.S. citizens arrive without proper documentation. Each visitor should carry photocopies of the bio-data page of the travelers U.S. passport and the page containing the Indian visa in order to facilitate obtaining an exit visa from the Indian government in the event of theft or loss of the passport. Replacing a lost visa in order to exit the country takes up to three business days.Americans wishing to visit India are responsible for requesting the correct type of visa from the Indian Embassy or Consulate, as there generally are no provisions for changing ones Immigration category (e.g., from tourist to work visa) once admitted. As of October 1, 2007, the Indian Embassy and Consulates in the U.S. outsourced the visa application process to Travisa Visa Outsourcing: http://indiavisa.travisaoutsourcing.com. As an expat be prepared to hear “this is normal in Georgia” every time something goes wrong. No one is in a hurry to fix anything - from broken lift in the building (I even got stuck once on a Sunday night and was told “maybe someone will come tomorrow to free you”! - had to break out myself) to your wifi (stopped working for almost 2 weeks, not until we threatened to change companies that they decided to send a technician). We didn’t find it very friendly. People don’t smile, staff in stores are surly and unhelpful. The taxi drivers are the worst in the world (including Uber). Utter maniacs. The cost of living has risen steeply because of inflation. People also constantly thought we were Russian and we got yelled at several times by locals who don’t want Russians around (for obvious reasons). Overall, it’s not the most pleasant place to be an expat. However, the food is delicious (if heavy), the scenery is gorgeous. The mobile data is cheap, but groceries ans eating out is more expensive than we expected. I’d recommend it for a month or two, but no more.
