• Benin is located in Africa.

• Benin is a West African country along the coast of the Gulf of Guinea. Officially called the Republic of Benin and formerly known as Dahomey, Benin shares borders with Burkina Faso, Niger, Togo, and Nigeria.

• When it comes to GPS coordinates, there are always two points involved. The first point, called the latitude, refers to the position of a place in relation to the equator. The second point, known as the longitude, reflects which half of the globe a place is located in, whether that be the eastern hemisphere or the western hemisphere.

To the west, Benin extends as far as a longitudinal coordinate of 0°50' E. The westernmost point of the country lies along the border between Togo and Benin.

• The current population of Benin is approximately 11,655,095 people in total. Even though a population of over eleven thousand people sounds massive, this number is only 0.15% of the world’s total population. Based on population alone, Benin is the 78th most populated country on Earth.

• The country’s total area measures at a grand total of 43,483 square miles of which 42,711 square miles are land and 772 square miles are water-based. Benin is a country that spans a width of 37.74 miles and a length of 346.09 miles.
